Programme Coordinator (80%)
Starting date: July 2015.
The post is based in Geneva, Switzerland.
The International Baby Food Action Network, IBFAN, consists of public interest groups working around the world to reduce infant and young child morbidity and mortality through the protection, promotion and support of breastfeeding with focus on universal and full implementation of the International Code and Resolutions.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Theme areas:
- Democratic governance in food and nutrition
- Right to adequate food and nutrition
International coordination:
- Liaison with WHO, its Governing bodies, other international institutions, ECOSOC and INGOs.
- Liaison with IBFAN network
The Coordinator reports directly to the IBFAN-GIFA Executive Board.
Office coordination:
- Programme and strategy development, coordination of and contribution to donor reports; collaboration with GIFA financial manager/accountant
- Preparation and participation of IBFAN/GIFA key meetings and liaison with IBFAN-GIFA Board
Fundraising:
- Contribution to development of fundraising proposals
Qualifications and skills:
- Degree or equivalent experience in social studies/development studies/public health/ political science/law
- Experience at international level and working with international NGOs/institutions
- Experience in programme/project management and donor relations, including some fundraising experience; organizational aptitude
- Strong advocacy and networking skills
- Good analytical and writing skills
- Able to work in a small team without a hierarchical structure
Further requirements: Sufficient flexibility and mobility to travel, incl. internationally.
Computer skills: MS Office, knowledge of social media; website management an asset.
Languages: Fluent English (writing and speaking), advanced level of French; additional UN language an asset.
