Pink October is a time to show solidarity with all women suffering from breast cancer. It’s also a time to raise awareness of preventive factors, so as to give ourselves the best chance of escaping the tragedy that is breast cancer.
Young women deserve all our attention when it comes to health messages. It’s good to know that breastfeeding is a preventive factor not only for certain types of breast cancer and ovarian cancer, but also for other non-communicable diseases: diabetes, cardiovascular disease, depression and anaemia.
Breastfeeding therefore helps to protect not only the health of the baby, but also that of the breastfeeding mother, with beneficial effects for both in the long term.
The month of pink October is drawing to a close, but prevention and the dissemination of good information are continuing. Let’s share it!
